You’ve just purchased a new carpet so we’re sure you want to keep it looking it’s best for a long time to come.

Protect your carpet

We recommend our ScS SOS Carpet Care Kit, available to purchase in-store and online, to guarantee your carpet stays looking its best.

Our carpet care kit includes:

  • Carpet stain away for removing fresh stains
  • Carpet stain remover for greasy stains
  • Ox cleaner for stains such as food, drink, urine and other stubborn stains.

Colour Matching

Carpet samples may not always to an exact colour match to our carpets, as it may not be from the same production batch. Therefore, carpet samples should be used as a guide only.

Flattening

New carpets will flatten slightly due to use, however there are certain things you can do to limit this. Vacuuming regularly not only removes dirt but can also lift carpet fibres back up keeping your new carpet fresh and fluffy. It is also a good idea to move your furniture around as leaving heavy items in one place for too long can flatten your carpet pile.

Shedding

All new carpets will shed loose fibres. Shedding occurs when fibres within the carpet yarn work their way to the surface of your carpet. These are just excess yarns and are nothing to worry about. After a few vacuums you should notice that any shedding will have stopped.

Shading and Pile Reversal

This can occur on any type of carpet and is when the pile has the appearance of light and dark patches. This is a result of the pile lying in different directions creating a ‘shaded’ look. This is completely normal and is nothing to worry about.

Pilling

Pilling occurs most commonly on loop pile and wool blend carpets and describes the small balls of fibres which collect on the carpet surface, a similar thing often happen to jumpers. This is nothing to worry about and can easy be treated by snipping away the bobbles with a pair of household scissors.
