The sofa guard protection can be added to your order at any time before your new sofa is delivered. Simply add the product to your basket, or call Castelan on 01934 423 774 to request that your sofa is protected. Alternatively, you can contact your local ScS store for more details.

ScS Sofa Guard protection covers you in the event of accidental damage or staining to your sofa, taking care of the costs of any necessary repairs or professional cleaning. From just 31p per week, you can ensure five years of protection for your brand new sofa, and guaranteed peace of mind that unexpected repair or restoration costs are taken care of.

Below we will explain all the benefits of Sofa Guard, for both leather sofas and fabric sofas, so you can decide whether it's right for you. We have also included some handy tips on how to care for your sofa, which will help to make sure your sofa stays looking good for many years to come.

Leather

Your beautiful leather sofa deserves the very best of care, and we have got you covered. Our Sofa Guard for leather sofas is designed to ensure that your new leather sofa will take pride of place in your home for years to come.

Accidental damage cover

By taking out our Sofa Guard cover on your new leather sofa, you will be insured against any accidental rips, tears, burns, scratches, punctures or scuffs that may occur, so you can enjoy your sofa without worry.

We will also repair pet damage and deliberate damage caused by children, although these are limited to one incident each during the period of cover.

Structural defects cover

Sofa Guard protection also covers the cost of materials and labour for specific structural defects that may have occurred after the 12-month manufacturer's guarantee has ended, and for up to a further five years.

Little accidents and spills can happen, especially in the busiest of homes, but don't worry - Sofa Guard for fabric sofas has you covered. We will protect and restore your furniture if it has been stained or damaged by a wide variety of substances

How to protect your new sofa with Sofa Guard

If you do choose to take out Sofa Guard protection on your new ScS sofa, you can add it to your order at any time prior to its delivery. Simply contact your local ScS store for details, or call Castelan on 01934 423 774 to request that your sofa is protected

Unfortunately, you cannot take out Sofa Guard protection once you have taken delivery of your new sofa, so it's important to consider protecting your sofa as soon as possible after you have placed your order with us.

Caring for your leather or fabric sofa

At ScS, every sofa has been carefully built to last for many years to come. Whether you have chosen a leather sofa or a fabric sofa, some regular TLC will help to keep it looking its very best.

Simply plumping up your sofa cushions can make a huge difference to their appearance and longevity - taking only a couple of minutes to do. Turning your cushions around and keeping your sofa out of direct sunlight will help to keep your sofa's colour consistent, especially if you have a fabric sofa.

Always avoid using any silicone polishes, detergents and abrasive cleaning products should you need to clean your leather or fabric sofa to prevent any damage. In the event of an accidental spillage, blot the stain as quickly as possible with a clean, dry white cloth. If you have a leather sofa, watch out for excess spray from wood furniture polish as the chemicals used in these products can damage leather.

Exclusions and limitations

(This can be found under Section 5 on your Certificate of Insurance).

Any claim for or resulting from the following will not be valid:

1. Damage caused deliberately by any person or child other than the first incident of deliberate damage by a child covered under this insurance

2. Any damage resulting from wear and tear

3. Neglect, abuse, or misuse of the product

4. The effects of sunlight, wind, weather, rusting, radiation, building fire, smoke damage, flooding or corrosion upon the product

5. Structural defects in products manufactured with a defective design or specification.

6. Changes in colour of any part of the product caused by sunlight, perspiration; natural hair and body oils or wear and tear

7. The gradual accumulation of stains or dye transfer

8. Accidental staining or accidental damage to products used in a food preparation area.

9. Accidental staining or accidental damage caused by the use of incorrect or inappropriate cleaning products or cleaning methods

10. The removal of any odour even where caused by a stain

11. Any transit damage

12. Damage caused by pets (except accidental staining caused by pet fluids).

13. Damage caused by any animal other than your pet(s)

14. Costs, expenses or any other financial loss, such as loss of earnings, other than the cost we agree for cleaning, repairing or replacing the product

15. Use of the product in business premises or in residential premises which you let or sublet

16. Use of the product outside the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man

17. Structural defects first discovered before the expiry of the manufacturer’s guarantee. .

You may cancel this insurance and receive a full refund of any premium you have paid by returning to the store where you bought the product together with the sales receipt or invoice and the Certificate of Insurance within 14 days from receipt of your Certificate. No refund of premiums will be made if you have made a claim or if you cancel the policy at a later date.

Compensation scheme (UK residents only)

The insurer is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FSCS is a safety net for customers if we are unable to meet our liabilities. You may be entitled to compensation in these circumstances depending on the details of any claim.
