What colour carpet goes with a grey sofa?

Stylish, versatile and timeless, your grey sofa is the perfect accompaniment for your living room. But, what colour carpet goes with it best? I’ve put together my pick of perfect shades to complement your grey sofa. In my opinion @homeatno2 has nailed it!

A natural neutral, the beauty of a grey sofa is its ability to work with just about any colour.

Whether you want to create an understated look with similarly neutral coloured carpet or create a fantastic contrast with a bold backdrop, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from when picking the best carpet to go with your grey sofa.

Option 1: Beige carpet with grey sofa

Grey and beige are the perfect sofa-carpet pairing. Both hugely versatile and sophisticated, grey and beige work effortlessly well together to create a seamless, fuss-free look..

There are many different shades of beige to choose from, from pale sandy tones to warmer honey-inspired hues for a cosier feel.

If a grey/beige colour palette appeals to you, don’t overlook greige, which is a combination of grey and beige. The beauty of this hybrid shade is that it creates a richer colour that can be made warmer or cooler, depending on how much grey there is.

Option 2: Grey sofa with cream carpet

I really don't think you can go wrong with cream and grey.

Contemporary, classy and calming cream and grey is a winning combination that works exceptionally well together. Not only will a cream carpet complement a grey sofa, but will also blend effortlessly into any colour scheme – perfect for those that like to change up their décor from time to time!

No matter what shade of grey your sofa is, a cream carpet is guaranteed to be its ideal pairing.

Option 3: Grey sofa with grey carpet

Though it may not be the first colour that springs to mind, matching grey with grey is a very complementary pairing. Thanks to greys myriad of shades and obvious versatility, you won’t struggle to find a gorgeous grey that matches your sofa and your décor.

To avoid your living room looking too dark, I'd recommend you use a combination of light and dark tones. A charcoal sofa will stand out on a light grey carpet, whereas a silver sofa will look striking on a darker shade of carpet. Create further depth in your grey lounge with accent cushions.

Grey carpet ideas to get you started:

Grey carpet’s great for making a statement, and if it’s dark grey, it’s ideal for hiding the signs of everyday wear and tear (such as muddy footprints!) Again, there are plenty of options I think you'll love, such as:

Option 4 : Grey sofa with blue carpet

Pair your grey sofa with a brilliant blue for a refreshing and contemporary combination. From pale hues to dark, moody tones, blue offers plenty of stunning shades depending on the environment you want to create. Lighter shades, such as duck egg, will help a space feel airy and relaxed, whereas a darker shade, like navy, will offer a more dramatic look.

If you don’t want to go all-out blue, you can always incorporate the colour into your interior with a rug.

Blue carpet ideas to get you started:

Whether you're looking for a light blue or something livelier, a blue carpet can add an instant refresh to any room.

Option 5: Grey sofa with pink carpet

Add a playful note to your living space with a bit of blush. Grey and pink is a beautiful colour combination and one of my personal favourites as it works together to create such an elegant colour scheme.

The addition of a pink carpet will add a softness against a neutral, grey sofa. If you don’t want to commit to a pink carpet, try adding splashes of the colour with accent cushions or a plush rug.

Pink carpet ideas to get you started:

Whether you want to give your living room a soft rosy glow or pack a punch with a vibrant shade, a pink carpet can add a cheery note to any space.

Whatever shade you decide, I hope the guidance in this article helps you choose the best sofa-carpet combination for you and your home.
