Passionate and powerful, Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Viva Magenta, brings a vivacious confidence.

A celebration of self-expression and unapologetic exuberance, which sets to ignite a new era of bold and jubilant statements within the home.

What colour is 'Viva Magenta'?

Viva Magenta (or Pantone 18-1750) is a courageous combination of daring red and hot pink. A fusion of warm and cool, Viva Magenta’s crimson red origin represents power and strength, while the playful pink hues bring a softness to the fiery shade.

So, what is the meaning of 'Viva Magenta'?

Described as “brave and fearless” by Pantone, the colour itself is said to represent “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time”, presenting an opportunity to insert optimism and happiness into the home.

Just as the shade is a cross between red and pink, Viva Magenta is also representative of a hybrid of the digital and physical universe, encouraging us to embrace and protect the natural world, and observe the appreciation of living things.

How to add 'Viva Magenta' into your home

The energetic shade of Viva Magenta is one that is bound to make an impact in homes in 2023.

Though its vibrancy may threaten to dominate, the right amount of Viva Magenta will make a room pop, without it overpowering your space.

The simplest way to incorporate this hue into your home is by the use of soft furnishings, accessories and artwork.

Accent cushions, throws, curtains, rugs, lighting, prints and frames will incorporate the shade in small doses, as seen here with our Milo 3 Seater Sofa, styled with a Viva Magenta-inspired throw and splashes of the colour decorating the background.

On the other hand, if you’re feeling brave, delve into the drama with a statement sofa, such as our stunning Harrogate Sofa in Wine.

Perhaps paint your walls in the pantone colour or brave a bold carpet, such as our luxurious Westend Velvet carpet in Campion

What colours go well with Viva Magenta?

Compliment your Viva Magenta interior stylings with contrasting colours such as grey and navy, pale hues of pink, blue and khaki, or soft sandy shades.

Alternatively, tones that are reminiscent of Viva Magenta will also pair well with the pantone colour and add an eye-catching conflict to a space.

Experiment with dark tones of beautifully rich reds and burgundy or paler versions.
