Sofa inspiration: 6 sofa ideas for small living rooms
Choosing the right sofa for your home can be tricky if you’ve got limited space to work with.
But it’s not impossible, you just need to know which sofa designs work best for smaller spaces.
To help you find the perfect sofa, we’ve shared some of our sofa ideas for small living rooms. You’ll be surprised at just how many different options there are for you to choose from!
1. A 2-seater sofa for small rooms
As obvious as it sounds, when space is tight, maximising every single square inch available to you is key.
The good news is there are sofas out there that have been specifically-designed to be smaller so you can still have a sofa to come home to, regardless of how compact your living space may be.
Two-seater sofas, like the four we’ve listed below are the ideal option here. Not only do they take up less space than standard sofas, they’re just as comfy and there’s just enough room to put your feet up or have somebody sit next to you too!
2. Standard chairs
Depending on how small your living room is and how much free space you have to walk around your furniture, you may find that a chair is all you need.
Standard chairs are great for helping create reading areas (just you, your chair and your latest book is all you need) and look right at home next the fire and many a 2 seater sofa, especially if they’re from the same range, such as Luna.
3. Recliner chairs
You can’t beat a comfy armchair that you effortlessly sink into after a hard day’s work. But it’s actually possible to go one better than that, thanks to the invention of the recliner chair.
Simply kick your legs back or flick a switch and you’re in the ultimate relaxing position.
And if your living room happens to be so small you can’t quite squeeze a two seater sofa in, then this is most definitely the second best option.
4. Love chairs
Have you heard of a love chair? If you haven’t, then you’ll be pleased to know they were literally made for smaller scale rooms!
They’re called love chairs because they’re larger than a standard sized chair, but smaller than a small sofa, but provide just enough space for you and your other half to comfortably snuggle up together!
And if you don’t want to share it, that’s absolutely fine, simply sit back and enjoy having the extra room to tuck your legs up or just stretch out that little bit more….
5. Swivel chairs
Thought swivel chairs were just for the office? Think again!
Ultra-modern chairs, like the Quinn Patterned Swivel Chair, were made for living rooms. As padded and as plump as a sofa, this chair is a serious statement piece of furniture that’s worthy of just being a show piece!
Choose between a standard or scatter back cushion design and four different fabric pattern options. And if you do happen to have the space, you may just want to check out the range of co-ordinating footstools too.
6. Sofa beds
Undoubtedly one of the best furniture inventions to date, sofa beds are ideal for open plan living arrangements or for providing a guest bed with multi-functional benefits.
We’re sure the sofa bed concept is something you’re already familiar with, so we thought we’d draw your attention to this trio of sofa bed product picks instead.
You may have starting out reading this article thinking that just because space is limited, so too are your sofa options. But now that you’ve reached the end, you’ll know that this isn’t the case.
There are plenty of different sofa designs available to you, including other furniture options too; you just need to make sure you measure your space carefully to make sure what you do choose, slots into place perfectly.
