The best patterned chairs for 2024

Patterned chairs are a brilliant way to infuse personality and vibrancy into your living spaces, effortlessly creating eye-catching focal points. I think they add an artistic flair to any room, transforming it into a stylish haven that reflects your unique taste and creativity.

I don't think you can beat a patterned piece of furniture. Not only are they a work of art, these pieces are capable of instantly making a statement, regardless of where you put them.

Accent chairs (or decorative chairs, in other words), are simply made to be adorned with patterns.

Just one patterned chair is all you need to give a room that added bit of interest.

The beauty of an accent chair

Accent chairs are all about interior flair.

While these chairs are designed to be used, some are seen as being more decorative items, rather than something that’s subjected to heavy wear and tear day in, day out.

It’s why most people often invest in just one of these occasional chairs, rather than a buying a whole set of them.

The purpose of an accent chair is to bring something that’s a little different to a room.

The best cleverly-designed spaces use accent chairs to catch your eye, as well as provide an interesting talking point, depending on how ‘out there’ the style and design is.

What you use your accent chair for is entirely up to you. You may choose to read in it, sit back and relax in it or just have it for show. But, how you intend to use it will influence your style choice.

Can you put an accent chair in a dining room?

Most certainly.

There are no rules when it comes to accent chair positioning.

So if you want to put one in the dining room, and have the space to do so, go ahead and do it!

Generally speaking, accent living room chairs tend to be the norm, but there’s no reason why you can’t have an accent chair in any of your other rooms.

I personally think adding a accent chair to a bedroom or dressing area is a great addition to the space.

Can you put two accent chairs together?

Yes, you can.

What’s more, the two chairs don’t have to be exactly the same either, you can choose accent chairs that are in a different colour or have a different pattern on them.

Having two accent chairs is a really clever move, especially if you have plenty of space to be able to accommodate them.

It means double the effect, using just one interior design idea.

Top tip: Try to make sure both chairs are similar dimensions to avoid one overpowering the other.

What’s the best way to choose the best accent chair for my home?

Just like when you’re buying any other piece of furniture, you need to consider what your accent chair is going to be used for, e.g. for reading or draping clothes over, and where it’s going to go.

Once you’ve established these fundamentals, then you can go on to think about the style and design, which includes the pattern and material, comfort factor and overall durability.

You may want to choose a chair that’s just one colour or you may prefer a pattern, it’s all down to personal preference really.

Ultimately, when it comes to choosing shades and patterns, you ideally want them to blend in with the rest of your décor, e.g. incorporate one of the shades from your overall colour palette.

However, having said that, accent chairs that are in a completely different colour to the rest of your room are allowed too. In fact, they’re a fun way to spice up your design theme.

The bottom line is, go with what you love and works for you!
