Everything you need to know about country interior design

Country style living, akin to the popular Cottagecore interior trend, is certainly set to stay. Seen in homes up and down the country, this trend is all about creating a cosy, warm and welcoming atmosphere that you’d get in a quaint country cottage.

Country-style living is all about finding vintage gems or investing in furniture and accessories with a traditional and cosy look and feel.

You can easily bring a touch of country living into your home with our collection of cottage-style sofas.

Whether you go for the relaxed cottage vibe or the more rustic approach we have lots of styles to inspire you and help you get up to speed with country styling.

What is country-style?

Country décor is a popular trend and one that keeps evolving.

Country-style is all about heritage so keep an eye out for flea markets where you may be able to pick up antiques to add to the authenticity of the style you are hoping to create.

Nature is a massive influence, particularly animal motifs such as stags. Also, botanical prints are a great way of updating the trend with floral curtains or a patterned rug.

How to achieve the country style

If you’d like some inspiration on how to achieve country-style living, here are some of my top tips below:

Antique frames

A gallery picture wall is also a must-have addition when creating a country décor vibe, mix styles and eras when choosing art to keep it looking modern rather than old fashioned.

Keep original features

If you have an older home keep an eye out for original architecture such as mouldings, wooden floors, exposed brick and wood beams. These are all fab elements that immediately add the desired texture to your room for this trend.

Keep it neutral

Traditionally the country style is based around a neutral, simple colour base but this is changing with lots of bold prints and colours coming through. Just don’t try to achieve it all at once! Having a theme will help tie everything together.

Sofas

The traditional Chesterfield sofa is the signature piece for this trend, whether you go for leather or fabric, make this the key item of your room and pair it with rustic furniture to create a welcoming space. Mix in comfy cushions and throws to enhance that homely feel.
